The Earth-Rite FIBC system validates and monitors the resistance of type C flexible intermediate bulk container (FIBC) bags, making sure that electrostatic charges can be conducted through the FIBC and dissipated.
This system can be installed and set up to ensure that operators ground the bag before filling or emptying operations are started.
As the FIBC is filled or emptied, the Earth-Rite FIBC system continuously monitors the FIBC’s resistance. If it rises above the recommended upper monitoring resistance level, this allows operators to be alerted to the danger and halt the process, either manually or through the system’s pair of NO / NC volt-free contacts. This reduces the risk of the accidental ignition of the product.
Newson Gale also offers configurations of the Earth-Rite FIBC which validate and monitor type C bags designed to operate with an upper resistance level of 1 x 108Ω or 1 x 107Ω.
The Earth-Rite FIBC is in compliance with International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) regulation 61340-4-4, “Standard test methods for specific applications – Electrostatic classification of flexible intermediate bulk containers (FIBC)” and National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) regulation 77, “Recommended Practice on Static Electricity.”
