Electrolab’s innovative technology and patented equipment designs are fabricated by experienced production personnel, as well as in-house hardware, software and computer-aided design (CAD) engineers. In addition, its peristaltic pumps are widely used throughout a number of industries.
Dissolution testers: Simple-to-operate analysis of samples
Pharmaceutical dissolution testing machinery is developed for end-user laboratory analysis, including manual testing and integration with automated systems. The equipment complies with current US pharmacopeia (USP), Indian pharmacopeia (IP), European pharmacopeia (Ph.Eur) and Japanese pharmacopeia (JP) specifications and has multilevel security accessibility with passwords.
Through DJA, Electrolab offers the 8 Station Dissolution Tester and 14 Station Online/Offline Dissolution Tester w/ UV Spectrophotometer to the pharmaceutical industry.
How do these units work? The EDT 08L and 14Lx units have 20 programmable protocols and 24 sampling intervals. The stirrer head can be positions for USP 1, 2, 5 and 6 intrinsic test methods, as well as user-specific heights. The East Snap-Fit locking mechanism ensures that samples stay in-place during operations, and bath temperature can be accurately maintained between 30°C and 40°C.
Dissolutions testers feature a 40×4 LCD screen and alphanumerical data entry capabilities. LAN connectivity permits central printing and sharing/storing of test data, while automation can be facilitated both online and offline.
Pharmaceutical tablet and granulation testing
Electrolab’s Dual Drum Friability Tester with Weighing Scale Interface supports both standard and abrasion drums and is equipped with a snaplock mechanism, which holds single or double drums in place.
The tester has automatic capabilities for discharge and drum positioning, and can calculate the percentage of friability and weight-loss. Capable of performing in both timer and counter mode, this versatile tester has an alphanumeric keypad and complies with the exact same specifications as the dissolution testers.
The 2 Parameter Tablet Tester EBT-2PRL is made from stainless-steel in order to comply with current good manufacturing practice (cGMP) regulations. It has programmable calibration, verifications, and tolerances with visual alerts for T1, T2 and plausibility limits.
On the machine, its tablet manager tray makes it easier to carry items to weighing scales. Meanwhile, overall efficiency is improved with its auto-visual alerts for run, error and communications. Electrolab’s 5 Parameter Tablet Tester EHT-5PR examines weight, thickness, diameter/length, width, and hardness of tablets. It is equipped with a 7in colour, intuitive touchscreen for operation.
The Tap Density Tester supports USP 1 (300 taps per min), USP 2 (250 taps per min) and American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) methods. It provides a simultaneous rotating and tapping motion to ensure an evenly packed surface, testing tapped density, compressibility index and Hausner ratio.
Electrolab’s 2 Station Semi Automatic Park Out Disintegration Tester EDI-2LSS and 2 Station Semi Automatic Park Out Disintegration Tester EDI2SA save time, electricity and water thanks to bathless heating. Alongside enhancing visual observation, bathless heating is 30% faster than standard methods and offers a disintegration time for individual tablets.
Leak testing pharmaceutical packaging
Electolab developed the first and only smart verification of leak detection using the blue dye method, the Leak Tester with Weighing Scale Interface (available with and without the embedded printer ELT-201WP). Human error is reduced as leaks are detected and verified using weights, and venting time is slow to ensure precision. The leak detector also offers programmable vacuum level and retention time.
The machinery is ideal for checking leaks in packed strips, blisters and sachets. The Leak Tester with Weighing Scale Interface ELT-201W features programmable tolerance settings in order to calculate apass/fail result. All of Electrolab’s leak testers meet USP and package practise specifications.
A one-stop-shop
Alongside providing an extensive portfolio of machines from carefully selected vendors, DJA aims to provide everything required for pharmaceutical manufacturing.
“There’s a lot of equipment in between the machines, things that need to be conducted for testing,” explains Rusty Nelson, DJA vice-president and general manager. “This includes weighing, testing, density, and just having testers in general.
“So all the little things sitting around in each part of the facilities, i.e. disintegration testers, that need to be in the facility in order to test their samples. Electrolab’s products are going to fill in the blanks between the big machines.”
