RS Roman Seliger Dry Disconnect and Safety Breakaway Couplings, Swivel joints and Hose Loading Arms for Chemical Transportation and Control

RS Roman Seliger is a medium-sized, owner-managed family company now in its third generation. We have over 100 years’ experience, combining traditional values with innovative technology, and an international viewpoint from our home in Norderstedt, near Hamburg.
Liquid chemical transportation and control equipment
Our aims are simple: to provide the most efficient means possible of moving and controlling liquids whilst maximising the safety of people, materials and the environment.
The RS brand stands for the safe transportation and control of many different liquids.
Dry disconnect couplings
Dry disconnect couplings are safety components. They facilitate fast coupling and decoupling of filled hose and pipe lines under operating pressure without significant leaks or loss of the handled fluid.
Both coupling halves in the separated (decoupled) state are blocked by a sealing mechanism, so no media can escape. When coupling, both halves are initially connected with each other and tightly sealed before the sealing mechanism can be opened and a flow channel inside the coupling is enabled. Vice-versa, before separation, both coupling halves will be blocked at first, so that the flow channel is closed.
We have a whole range of special technologies for special and niche applications on hand, and would also be happy to adapt them to your individual application.
Safety breakaway couplings (SBC)
Breakaway couplings (also called safety breaks) are safety components that are used during the loading processes to prevent the most serious safety hazards. Depending on the application, widely differing technical designs are needed to reliably implement functions of theses couplings.
Unwanted and disproportionate tensile load on the load line (hose or pipe), which is caused (for example) when tankers and trains drive off too soon or by ships drifting, can mechanically damage or even destroy both the connection points and the load line itself, which could lead to uncontrolled leaks of the fluid to be loaded, resulting in the corresponding risks to people and the environment. That is why breakaway couplings are finding increasing use as the standard when loading hazardous media (caustic, toxic, explosive, etc.) in order to prevent industrial accidents.
RS provides a wide range of breakaway couplings with different release mechanisms for marine and chemical applications.
Hose connection fittings and quick coupling systems
Hose connector fittings always have two function areas: the hose integration area (i.e. the part of the fitting that secures the fixation of the hose to the fitting, enabling creation of the hose line) and the connection section, through which the fitting and thus the created hose line can be connected with other elements such as containers, vehicles or other hose lines. In case of unequal sizes or threads Roman Seliger offers a wide range of adapters and reducers in order to find the right solution for your application.
When it comes down to speed and timing, little can beat a RS quick coupling. In critical applications such as fire fighting and disaster control, the difference between safety and catastrophe can be measured in seconds.
Special coupling systems have been developed to meet these needs, and many have become standard equipment. These leading-edge couplings are equally applicable in industrial applications where environmental protection and safety are key criteria.
Swivel and ball swivel joints
Swivel joints protect connected hoses from torsion loads (twisting), which greatly reduces the service life of the hose. Furthermore, they ease handling the hose line. This plays an important role, especially for large and heavy hoses or when being used in tight spaces.
Hose loading arms for safe fluid handling
Special hazards to staff and equipment are present during the loading and unloading of chemicals between fixed and mobile tanks. In order to increase safety, RS offers SGA and Steril-SGA hose-loading arms in conjunction with safety couplings at the point of transfer.
