Micromeritics’ Grant Selection Committee has selected the recipient of its grant award for the third quarter of 2013. An ASAP 2020 Micropore Accelerated Surface Area and Porosity Analyzer has been awarded to the State Key Laboratory of Catalysis, Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Dalian, China.
According to Professor Can Li, Principal Investigator, "The ASAP 2020 will support a variety of research projects. Major projects include research on the rational synthesis of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and their application to gas separation and catalysis. It will also be used extensively to research the hydrogen production from solar energy and biomass." Dr. Can Li is currently the Director of the State Key Laboratory of Catalysis.
He is the former President of the International Association of Catalysis Societies, an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry. He has published over 500 peer-reviewed articles and is on the editorial board of more than 15 academic journals.
According to Preston Hendrix, Micromeritics’ president, "This program is designed to promote and advance the acquisition and use of particle characterization instrumentation in non-profit universities and institutions where other means of funding are not generally available. We are very proud and excited to present this award in an ongoing grant program to support important research."
Mr. Hendrix has appointed a special Grant Selection Committee to ensure the success and effectiveness of this program.
Micromeritics’ Instrument Grant Program is intended to provide particle characterization instruments to non-profit universities and research organizations for the purpose of fostering and supporting meritorious research projects. A maximum of one instrument/integrated system will be awarded per calendar quarter.
