For the manufacturing of high-pressure vessels, where welding is indisputably the most important manufacturing technique, testing of welding seams is key for supplying the highest quality.
There are many well-known techniques used for this, including radiography, which is especially important for thick walled high-pressure equipment.
For a long time, it has been standard to use sensitive films for the emitted radiation
to capture an image of the tested welding seam. After developing these films they can be inspected and finally archived. For new direct radiography, the radiation is captured by a digital detector and can be visualised on a computer monitor. This allows a new level of interpretation of the results by using software with options to vary and enhance the imaging.
Headed by both SBN level III inspectors for radiography testing, this new technology is established to secure SBN’s position as the highest quality manufacturer for high-pressure vessels.
