Yantai Wanhua to start new propylene, isobutane plants

17 October 2011

China's Yantai Wanhua Polyurethanes is planning to start up a new propylene plant at Yantai, in Shandong province, in 2013.

According to Platts, the plant will use Honeywell UOP's Oleflex process technology to produce 750,000 metric tons a year of propylene and 565,000 metric tons per year of isobutane.

In addition to technology licensing, UOP also will provide engineering design, equipment, staff training and technical services for the project.

UOP's Oleflex process uses catalytic dehydrogenation to convert propane to propylene.
