Tessenderlo to boost Californian thiosulfate fertiliser production

8 June 2012

Tessenderlo Kerley is planning to build a new thiosulfate fertiliser production plant in Hanford and also optimise its thiosulfate fertiliser plant in Fresno, California, in the US.

"Earlier on 16 April 2012, the company already opened a new CTS plant in Changsu, China, that produces thermoplastic elastomers."

The company's thiosulfate liquid specialty fertilisers include the potassium thiosulfate solution KTS and the calcium thiosulfate solution CaTs, which can be applied to various crops such as grapes, nuts and vegetables.

Jordan Burns, Tessenderlo Kerley CEO, said the expansion allows the company to better serve its customers' increasing requirements in the western region of the US.

"The extra production capacity, available in the second half of 2014, will enforce TKI's position as the leading supplier of KTS and CaTs fertilizers," Burns added.

Earlier on 16 April 2012, the company already opened a new CTS plant in Changsu, China, that produces thermoplastic elastomers and slush moulding compounds used for automotive applications.

Tessenderlo Kerley, a subsidiary of Tessenderlo Group, produces and sells specialty chemical solutions including fertilisers, crop protection chemicals and process chemicals and services to the US, Mexico, Central and South America and selected European markets.
