25 November 2011

Methylamines and derivatives producer Taminco has started up a new dimethylaminopropylamine unit at its production facility in St Gabriel, Lousiana, US.

The plant is also used to produce a number of other amines, including alkylamines and alkanolamines.

Dimethylaminopropylamine is used as a raw material for amine oxides and betaines, both of which are surfactants in personal care and household products.

The company is also building a tertiary amines unit at its existing methylamines plant in Pace, Florida, US, which is schedule to start up in mid-2012.
