Solvay has said it will acquire Société Générale's 50% stake in the companies' joint venture, Orbeo.
Upon completion of the transaction, Orbeo will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rhodia Energy, itself a subsidiary of Solvay.
The acquisition determines Solvay Group's aim to facilitate Rhodia to advance its activities in the area of greenhouse gas emission abatement.
The transaction is expected to be finalised by the end of 2011, subject to the withdrawal by the French Prudential Supervision Authority of its approval of Orbeo as an investment company.
