China Petroleum and Chemical (Sinopec) has said that the start-up of a new 160,000 barrels-per-day (bpd) crude oil unit at its Jinling refinery in Nanjing has been delayed to June 2012.
The company has previously planned to commence the crude unit by the end of 2011.
The new crude unit will uphold the existing 50,000bpd crude facility, and the resulting net increase in Jinling's crude run capacity will be 110,000bpd.
Sinopec officials said that construction work on the site has been slowed down following a series of accidents in China's refining sector.
The work on the site includes a 1.5 million tons a year residue desulphurising unit and a 3.5 million tons a year fluid catalytic cracking facility.
