Sinopec and Kuwait Petroleum commence petrochemical project in China

Sinopec and Kuwait Petroleum have initiated the construction of a ¥59bn ($9.3bn) joint refining and petrochemical complex in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong.

The project includes a 300,000 barrels-per-day refinery and a one million tons-per-year ethylene cracking unit.

The refinery and petrochemical complex is expected to come onstream in 2015.
