Sinopec has entered into a memorandum of extended cooperation with Russian firm Sibur regarding the possible formation of two joint ventures to produce butadiene nitrile rubber in Krasnoyarsk, Russia, and Shanghai, China.

The two companies are also planning to form a polyisopren rubber joint venture.

Sibur will provide polymerisation and finishing technology for the plants.

The Krasnoyarsk plant's existing butadiene nitrile rubber assets will be expanded to 56,000t/year, and the Shanghai facility will have a production capacity of approximately 50,000t/year.
