Shell Oil is planning to build a multibillion-dollar ethane cracker plant somewhere in the US states of West Virginia, Ohio or Pennsylvania.
The ethane plant is expected to process natural gas liquids into a material used to make plastics.
The plant is likely to produce more than 60,000 barrels of ethane a year.
The exact location of the ethane cracker plant will be announced in January 2012.
