LyondellBasell’s Hostalen technology selected for HDPE unit
LyondellBasell's Hostalen Advanced Cascade Process (ACP) polyethylene technology has been selected by Shandong Shougang Luqing for a planned 350kta high-density polyethylene (HDPE) unit in China.
The unit will be built in Shandong’s petrochemical complex at Bohai Industry Park in the Shandong Province.
The Hostalen ACP technology is claimed to increase flexibility and versatility to manufacturers in the production of multimodal HDPE resins, which have a strong impact and stress cracking resistance.
The resins are suitable for film, blow moulding, and pipe applications.
LyondellBasell global manufacturing, refining, projects, and technology executive vice-president Dan Coombs said: “With this contract, LyondellBasell has licensed 1.5 million tonnes of annual Hostalen ACP capacity this year.
“This clearly demonstrates that this is the process technology of choice for the production of high-performance multimodal HDPE products.”
LyondellBasell has more than 250 polyolefin process licenses and offers technologies for the production of low-density, high-density, linear low-density, and medium-density polyethylene.
The company’s portfolio of other licensed polyolefin technologies and associated technical services are Spheripol, Spherizone, Metocene PP, Lupotech, and Spherilene.
