Saudi Polymers to commence Jubail polyolefins complex operations


Saudi Polymers is planning to start operations at its new integrated polyolefins complex in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, within a month, after pending ongoing safety checks.

The complex is built around an ethane / propane-based steam cracker, with the capacity to produce 1.165 million metric tons a year of ethylene and 445,000 metric tons a year of propylene, Platts reported.

Saudi Polymers also has a 1.1 million metric tonn a year high density polyethylene (PE) plant, a 400,000 metric ton a year polypropylene plant and a 200,000 metric ton a year polystyrene plant at the new complex.

Saudi Polymers is a joint venture company of Arabian Chevron Phillips Petrochemical Company and National Petrochemical Company.
