Saudi Aramco and Dow sign joint venture for Jubail chemical complex
Saudi Aramco has signed a joint venture agreement with Dow Chemical for an integrated chemicals complex in Jubail Industrial City.
The joint venture company, called Sadara Chemical Company, will comprise 26 manufacturing units, several of which constitute sizeable projects in themselves.
Using Dow's product technologies and Saudi Aramco's project management and execution capabilities, the manufacturing units will produce a wide range of performance products such as polyurethanes, propylene oxide, propylene glycol, elastomers, linear LDPE, LDPE, glycol ethers and amines.
The first production units are expected to come on stream in the second half of 2015, while all units will start running in 2016.
Sadara is expected to deliver annual revenues of approximately $10bn within a few years of operation, while contributing significantly to Saudi Arabia's industrial diversification.
