Reliance selects Technip ethylene technology for ROGC plant

5 July 2012

Technip has received a license, supply of basic engineering package and an engineering and procurement services contract from Reliance Industries (RIL) for its refinery off-gas cracker (ROGC) plant in Gujarat, India.

"RIL has awarded the contract as part of its plans to expand its refining and petrochemical complex in Jamnagar."

As part of the agreement, the France-based project management, engineering and construction (PEC) provider will license RIL to employ its ethylene technology, including proprietary SMK furnaces technology, at the ROGC plant.

Nello Uccelletti, Technip Onshore business senior vice president, said Technip is one of the largest experienced contractors on licensing, designing and implementing grassroot mega-crackers for ethylene production.

''This contract reinforces our position as a major player in this field. We are delighted to work with RIL to deliver this world-scale project," Nello added.

RIL has awarded the contract as part of its plans to expand its refining and petrochemical complex in Jamnagar.

The ROGC plant will be integrated with RIL's refinery complex using refinery off-gas as feedstock.

Output from the ROGC plant will be used as feedstock for new downstream petrochemical plants.
