Qapco unveils Qatar-based LDPE 3 plant

Qatar Petrochemical Company (Qapco) has started activities at its third low density polyethylene plant (LDPE 3) located in Mesaieed Industrial City.

"The LDPE plant is expected to increase Qapco's output to 700,000mtpa of low density polyethylene."

Qapco is a joint venture between Total Petrochemicals Industries and Qatar.

The LDPE plant is expected to increase Qapco's output to 700,000mtpa of low density polyethylene by producing nearly half of the estimated output.

Qapco vice chairman and chief executive officer Dr Mohammed Yousef Al-Mulla was quoted by Trade Arabia as saying that the LDPE 3 facility supports their effort in the production and distribution of ethylene and polyethylene.

"In addition, the plant represents our commitment to the virtues and pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030, '' Yousef Al-Mulla added.

''With economic diversification at the centre of the country's development and growth for generations to come, all of us at Qapco are proud in the role we play in meeting the goals."

Qapco had completed testing and commissioning of the plant in mid August 2012.
