Praxair China opens air separation plant to supply Meishan

12 July 2012

Industrial gas and service provider, Praxair China, has launched a new air separation plant in Nanjing in Jiangsu, to supply gases and liquid to Meishan Iron and Steel, a Chinese steel manufacturer.

"The new plant liquid capacity will also improve Praxair's ability to provide liquids to Jiangsu's merchant liquid customers."

The new air separation unit has a capacity of 1,700 tpd and supplies nitrogen, oxygen and argon to support Meishan Steel's growing demand, as well as to deliver added value in product quality, energy efficiency and process safety.

The new plant liquid capacity will also improve Praxair's ability to provide liquids to Jiangsu's merchant liquid customers.

The air separation plant will double the present capacity of the oxygen production unit, which is serving Meishan Steel.

Praxair China has been supplying industrial gases to Meishan Steel for more than a decade and has, in the past, built a number of air separation plants to supply gases to the Nanjing-based steel producer.

Minda Ho, Praxair China president, said they are honoured to further extend their commercial relationship with Meishan Steel and support its continuous, dynamic development.

"The start-up of our new air separation plant further demonstrates our ability to serve large, world-class steel mills and our commitment to a long-term relationship with Meishan Steel," Minda Ho added.

Meishan Iron and Steel is a subsidiary of the Baosteel Group.
