17 July 2012

US-based CB&I have received a Lummus Technology contract from Malaysian company Petronas for its five petrochemicals units in the country.

"Lummus Technology licenses more than 70 processes that are supported by more than 2,800 current and pending patents."

The five facilities are part of Petronas's new refinery and petrochemicals integrated development (RAPID) project, which is to be located in Johor, Malaysia.

Daniel McCarthy, CB&I Lummus Technology president, said CB&I are excited to be working with Petronas on this project by providing several key technologies from the company's petrochemicals portfolio.

"The RAPID project will allow Petronas to expand its products portfolio, capitalising on the demand for higher value products in the region," McCarthy added.

Lummus Technology licenses more than 70 processes that are supported by more than 2,800 current and pending patents.

The technology will provide solution for a steam cracker complex comprising ethylene, butadiene, benzene, isobutylene and methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) units.

CB&I is an engineering, procurement and construction company, as well as a process technology licensor.
