Oxea completes Ester 2 production plant in Germany


Chemical company Oxea has completed work on its 'Ester 2' production plant in Oberhausen, Germany, to expand its speciality esters production capacity by more than 50%.

"Oxea's production line includes four speciality ester production units, and earned a revenue of about €1.5bn in 2011."

With the mechanical completion of the plant, Oxea is expected to commence basic operations at Ester 2 and start production soon.

Miguel Mantas, Oxea sales and marketing executive board managing director, said the company will enhance its flexibility and delivery capacity with the new production unit, while supporting customers with their growth.

"In our new facility we will manufacture key components for the production of innovative polymer films for which there is strong demand in the chemical industry," Mantas added.

Dr. Martina Flöel, Oxea operations and technology executive board spokesperson, expressing her views on the new production plant, said Ester 2 constitutes an important investment in the Oberhausen site, to further strengthen the company's market position.

She also added that the company is strategically investing in places such as China to enhance its specialty chemicals product portfolio. Oxea's production line includes four speciality ester production units, and earned a revenue of about €1.5bn in 2011.

The company is specialised in manufacturing oxo intermediates and oxo derivatives, such as alcohols, polyols, carboxylic acids, specialty esters and amines, which are used to manufacture coatings, lubricants, cosmetics and pharmaceutical products.
