Nuplex Industries, a manufacturer of polymer resins, is set to acquire Acquos' Masterbatch business for A$23.5m (US$23.2m), following regulatory clearance from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
Acquos Masterbatch manufactures additives that are used in consumer packaging as well as industrial and agricultural applications such as wire coatings and plastic sheeting.
Upon acquisition, the two entities will be combined to form Nuplex Masterbatch, which will serve the Australian and New Zealand plastics industry.
The transaction will be earnings per share accretive in full-year 2012 and Nuplex expects to see cost synergies from the integration of the two businesses.
