Maire Tecnimont wins Egyptian fertiliser plant contract

Orascom Construction Industries (OCI) has awarded an EGP700m ($120m) contract to Maire Tecnimont to execute civil, electromechanical and erection works for Egyptian Chemical Industries Company's nitrogen-based fertiliser complex in Aswan, Egypt.

The complex will include ammonia and urea production lines as well as an urea granulation unit, and all related utilities and ancillary facilities.

The complex is expected to produce 550,000t of nitrogen-based fertilisers per year.

Under the deal, OCI will supply the structural steel, painting and insulation materials required for the project.

The entire engineering, procurement and construction contract is scheduled for completion in 33 months.
