Lubrizol has signed an agreement to acquire Merquinsa, a European producer of speciality thermoplastic polyurethanes, to strengthen its engineered polymers business.
Lubrizol is involved in the production of thermoplastic elastomers, which are used in film extrusion, tubing, cable jacketing, injection moulding, calendaring and solution processes.
Merquinsa products are used in a wide range of applications including automotive, sports and leisure, furniture and textile coatings.
The deal, which is anticipated to close by the end of this year, is subject to customary closing conditions.
