German chemical company Lanxess has agreed to acquire Unitex Chemical in Greensboro, North Carolina, US, to strengthen its global phthalate-free plasticiser portfolio.
The site has a capacity to produce more than 50,000 metric tons a year of phthalate-free plasticisers and other specialty products, including flame retardants.
Upon acquisition, Unitex business will be integrated into the Lanxess business unit Functional Chemicals.
The transaction will close with immediate effect and Lanxess will finance the acquisition from existing liquidity.
