Japan's Kuraray held a ceremony at its Niigata Plant in Tainai City to mark the completion of a Kurarity production facility.
The plant is expected to produce 5,000t/year of the acrylic thermoplastic elastomer.
Kurarity possesses methyl methacrylate's transparency and weather resistance, and butyl acrylate's elasticity and adhesive qualities.
It is used in the optical and moulding material fields.
