JGC wins Saudi Arabian ethylene facility contract


JGC's wholly owned subsidiary, JGC Gulf International, has won a contract for the Rabigh phase II project, which is an expansion of ethylene manufacturing facilities in Rabigh, Saudi Arabia.

"The project is an expansion to the Rabigh I project, an integrated refining and petrochemicals complex."

As part of the the lump-sum contract granted by Saudi Aramco and Sumitomo Chemical, JGC Gulf International will provide engineering, procurement and construction services to expand the facilities.

The expanded facilities are expected to have a capacity of 300,000tpy and are scheduled to be finished in 2015, according to The Asahi Shimbun.

The project is an expansion to the Rabigh I project, an integrated refining and petrochemicals complex operated jointly by Saudi Aramco and Sumitomo Chemical.

The ethylene facility, which forms part of the complex, will produce base chemicals used for the synthesis of many other chemical products downstream.
