Invista opens fibre production unit in Singapore
Polymers and fibres producer Invista has launched a new production line in Tuas, Singapore, to manufacture a series of specialty Lycra fibre products to meet increasing demands from the Asian region.
The new production will initially produce Easy Set Lycra fibre, a special type of Lycra fibre to be used with sensitive fibres, such as silk or cellulosics and with moulded applications.
Invista apparel eastern region executive vice-president Dan Kotkin said the Singapore plant has been built with modern engineering capabilities to manufacture the Lycra fibre technology.
''Producing Easy Set Lycra® fibre here reinforces our belief that the Singapore plant is a strategic asset for Invista apparel, to help serve and supply quality fibres to customers in South Asia, and ASEAN, as well as global sourcing value-chains," Kotkin added.
The launched production line forms part of the more than $25m investment made in Singapore assets during the last 24 months to support the growth of the apparel and personal care segments in the region.
The plant produces Lycra fibre with W Technology as well as T-162L Lycra fibre and Lycra HyFit fibre.
