Bangkok's Indorama Ventures has concluded a deal to acquire Wellman International's recycling business in Europe from Aurelius.
Ireland-based Wellman International is a recycler of (PET) bottles, and a producer of polyester staple fibre products and recycled PET.
The acquisition of the businesses of Wellman International and associated company MJR Recycling will enable Indorama to attain the objectives of long-term sustainability and an overall lowering of the company's impact on the environment.
The deal will also help Indorama to meet customer needs and demands for the recycling of post-consumer products.
Wellman International has three production facilities in Europe with around 153,000t/year of output: a polyester fibre plant based in Mullagh, Ireland; a recycling plant in Spijk, the Netherlands; and a recycling plant in Verdun, France.
