Everris Americas, a business unit of ICL Specialty Fertilizers, has obtained manufacturing equipment from the X-Calibur Plant Health Company.
The purchase includes a fertiliser coating line and associated handling, processing and packaging equipment.
This acquisition enables Everris to launch a new proprietary product, currently under development by its Global R&D Center in the Netherlands, and will complements its Osmocote and Poly-S controlled release fertiliser technologies.
Ariana Cohen, Everris Americas president, said purchasing the X-Calibur equipment provides the company with a solution for its expansion needs.
"We require additional manufacturing capabilities to bring our new controlled-release fertiliser technology from concept to the marketplace," Cohen said.
"The equipment acquired meets our needs, and its proximity to our existing Charleston production facility will enable us to realise significant efficiencies as we ramp up production of both existing and new products."
Everris said its expanded product line of coated components and fertilisers will provide various solutions for its customers and meet the needs of the ornamental horticulture, turf and specialty agriculture markets.
Fred Bosch, Everris CEO, said the company is committed to developing fertilisers which help growers to improve their productivity and profitability.
"This transaction is a further step in ICL's strategy to become one of the world's major global Specialty Fertilizers players, and it complements several other acquisitions made by ICL in the Specialty Fertilizers sector over the past year," Bosch added.
Headquartered in Israel, ICL Specialty Fertilizers produces various proprietary controlled-release fertilisers, water-soluble fertilisers, foliar feed and plant protection products.
