Honeywell has inaugurated a new technology centre in Gurgaon, India.
The new facility will help the company to further extend its technology development abilities in petrochemicals, nylon technologies, low global warming and refining fields.
The centre features pilot facilities which will develop and demonstrate petrochemical, refining and renewable fuel production process technologies.
Honeywell said it has made a $34m investment in the new facility, which is its fourth unit in India.
Honeywell's UOP president and CEO Rajeev Gautam said: "This new facility will allow Honeywell to put its vast resources to work in collaboration with some of the brightest engineering minds in India."
Gautam added: "It brings the development of key technologies closer to our customers in the region and complements our other technology centers around the world."
Accordingly, the new Honeywell centre will primarily support Honeywell UOP's work in developing and licensing process technologies used in refining and the production of petrochemicals and renewable fuels.
Honeywell UOP, a division of the Honeywell Performance Materials and Technologies (PMT) group, is a supplier and technology licenser for the petroleum refining, gas processing, petrochemical industries.
The center also supports PMT in developing new low global warming refrigerants, blowing agents and other materials.
The technology centre will also conduct research and customer-specific engineering work in caprolactam, which is used in nylon production and nylon resin, Honeywell said.
Mark Turowicz, managing director of Honeywell Performance Materials and Technologies India, said: "This centre adds to India's growing strength as a global knowledge hub, allowing some of the best engineering minds to produce breakthrough technologies to be used in India and beyond."
