Al Hamdi Group, a Saudi Arabian mining company, is set to build a $1.4bn chemical plant in Jordan.

The plant, which forms the first phase of the Badr complex project, will have an annual phosphoric acid production capacity of 310,000t.

Operations are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2012, reports Zawya.com.

The second phase will involve establishment of a production line with the same capacity, increasing the overall production capacity to 620,000t/year.

The final phase will include production lines to produce DAP, NPK and MPK chemical fertilisers.
