Gurit signs licensing deal for Armacell’s ArmaFORM PET GR technology

Gurit has signed a licensing contract with the Armacell Group for ArmaFORM PET GR technology.

The ArmaFORM PET GR foam core technology is used to manufacture extruded PET foam from 100% recycled (post-consumer) PET materials.

The patented technology is claimed to support customers across industries to increase usage of sustainable advanced composite materials across applications.

Armacell Engineered Foams vice-president Bart Janssen said: "We are happy to see Gurit utilise our technology thereby increasing Armacell’s contribution to a greener tomorrow.”

"ArmaFORM PET GR is made of 100% recycled PET packaging waste, which is widely rejected for recycling."

Under the contract, Gurit will acquire a global licence for Armacell’s patented technology until the expiry of the patent rights for an undisclosed licence fee.

Gurit CEO Rudolf Hadorn said: "The combination of the PET capacity and technology that we have acquired in Volpiano, Italy, at the end of 2016 paired with Gurit`s existing production and the new licensing contract for the Armacell foam technology represents a major step forward in our offering to our global customer base."

ArmaFORM PET GR is made of 100% recycled PET packaging waste, which is widely rejected for recycling, Armacell stated.
