Foster Wheeler has been selected by Owens Corning to provide engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services for its composite materials manufacturing facility in Gastonia, North Carolina, US.
Work on the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2015.
The facility will allow Owens Corning to cater to the increasing demand for glass non-woven products, which are said to offer enhanced aesthetics, mold and fire prevention, and corrosion resistance, according to Foster Wheeler.
Foster Wheeler global engineering and construction group CEO Roberto Penno said: "We are very pleased to have been awarded this contract by Owens Corning.
"This award reflects the strong relationship our P&I division has developed with Owens Corning."
The financial terms of the contract have not been disclosed.
The engineering, procurement and early construction work has been included in the company's first-quarter 2014 bookings, while the construction management scope is expected to be announced later.
Foster Wheeler's global engineering and construction group engages in designing processing facilities for the upstream oil and gas, LNG and gas-to-liquids, chemicals and petrochemicals, power, minerals and metals, and refining industries.
Owens Corning produces residential and commercial building materials, glass-fibre reinforcements and engineered materials for composite systems.
