Foster Wheeler wins ChemaWEyaat aromatics complex contract
Abu Dhabi National Chemicals Company (ChemaWEyaat) has awarded a contract to Foster Wheeler to provide project management consultancy (PMC) services for its aromatics complex (stage I of the Tacaamol Project) located at the Madeenat ChemaWEyaat Al Gharbia (MCAG) site in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Under the contract, a subsidiary of Foster Wheeler's global engineering and construction group will provide PMC services for the front-end engineering design (FEED) phase.
The aromatics complex will convert almost three million tons a year of heavy and medium naphtha into paraxylene, mixed xylenes and benzene, supplied via a pipeline from Takreer's Ruwais refinery.
Infrastructure required to support the new complex includes an export tank farm, jetty and loading berth.
Apart from providing FEED phase services, the contract includes an option for Foster Wheeler to provide PMC services for the aromatics complex's engineering, procurement and construction phase.
ChemaWEyaat said the contract value for the project will be included in the company's first-quarter 2012 bookings.
Foster Wheeler's global engineering and construction group designs and constructs processing facilities for the upstream oil and gas, LNG and gas-to-liquids, refining, chemicals and petrochemicals, power, mining and metals, environmental, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and healthcare industries.
