Flotek Industries, a developer and distributor of specialty chemicals, has completed an initial expansion of its chemical production facility in Marlow, Oklahoma, US.

The expansion, carried out to increase production and mixing capabilities as well as additional capacity, will more than double Flotek's total blending tank capacity.

The improvements will also increase total bulk storage by 150%, from 158,500gal to 398,500gal.

The completed addition of dry material silos also provide for more efficiency in preparing dry compounds for delivery.

"The planning and execution of this expansion allow us not only to more efficiently and effectively meet existing client needs but to meet future growth which our clients indicate will be needed as liquids plays expand in the coming months," said Flotek Industries chairman and president John Chisholm.

"Growing demand for Flotek's patented Complex Nanofluids requires us to become even more efficient in our production processes.

"In addition, the purchase of additional real estate adjacent to their existing facility provides for the development of new liquids storage capacity which will further enhance their future growth," Chisholm added.

US-based Flotek manufactures and markets the Petrovalve line of downhole pump components and the Spidle Turbeco line of downhole drilling tools and casing accessories.

Through its specialty chemicals segment (CESI), Flotek also develops, manufactures, packages and sells chemicals used by other oilfield service companies in oil and gas well cementing, stimulation, acidizing, drilling and production.
