Jacobs secures Evonik methionine plant contract
Evonik has awarded a contract to Jacobs Engineering Group for the engineering, procurement and construction management of a new methionine plant in Jurong, Singapore.
Under the contract, Jacobs will lead the project execution activities from its office in Singapore, supported by work share from its other offices in the region.
The $636.5m integrated plant is expected to produce 150,000mtpa of amino acid DL-methionine, along with all other important intermediates.
Tom Quinn, Jacobs Group vice president, said the company is committed to help Evonik achieve its goals on the integrated methionine project.
"The contract award is testimony to our growing relationship with Evonik globally and particularly in Asia," Quinn added.
The new plant is scheduled to come on stream in 2014. Evonik also recently awarded a contract to Jacobs to provide basic engineering services for its grassroots polyamide 12 production plant in Asia.
Jacobs is involved in providing technical, professional and construction services to chemical, oil and gas, automotive, industrial, buildings, polymers, energy, mining and minerals industries.
