Ergon Refining to expand US oil refinery

Ergon Refining is planning to expand its naphthenic specialty oil refinery in Vicksburg, Mississippi, US.

"The phase one expansion is expected to begin in October 2012, and all the five phases are slated to be completed by 2015."

The five-phase $147m expansion plan includes new administrative and laboratory facilities, a technical development centre and also an upgradation of the refining units, to increase product diversity and quality control.

Paul Winfield, Vicksburg Mayor, said: "This expansion is a positive indicator for Vicksburg and reinforces our administration's progressive approach toward economic development for our community."

Leslie Lampton, Ergon Refining chairman, said the investment in the refinery is not only an investment for the Ergon facility but also for Vicksburg itself.

"These upgrades allow Ergon Refining to continue to deliver the highest quality products in our markets," Lampton added.

The phase one expansion is expected to begin in October 2012, and all the five phases are slated to be completed by 2015, according to Ergon.

Ergon Refining, based in the US, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ergon and produces naphthenic specialty oils and also supplies base, process and electrical insulating oils to customers across the globe.
