Emery Oleochemicals expands operations in Ohio

Emery Oleochemicals has expanded its technical development centre (TDC) in Cincinnati, Ohio, with the opening of a new application lab for its green polymer additives (GPA) business.

Emery is a producer of natural-based chemicals and a manufacturer of oleochemicals in North America.

The new application lab will support Emery's green polymer additives business that offers renewable products for a wide range of industries such as automotive, electronics, packaging, building and construction.

By expanding its operations at its new application lab in Cincinnati, the natural-chemical producer will be able to provide regional value-added services to its GPA customers through dedicated application testing.

The new Cincinnati lab capabilities include development of custom lubricant and plasticiser, as well as scale-up of LOXIOL ester lubricants and edenol plasticisers.

The new facility will also be used for formulation and applications testing for rigid and flexible PVC and development in engineered resins.

"The new application lab will support Emery's green polymer additives business that offers renewable products for a wide range of industries."

Green polymer additive business global business director Harald Klein said: “Our lab housed in the TDC in Cincinnati is specifically designed to leverage our in-depth application knowledge of polymer processes and technical capabilities to deliver customisable market-ready solutions to the North American market.

“By providing our customers with the latest innovations, we aim to be an instrumental partner in the development of polymer additives that are sustainable, environmentally friendly and exceed the requirements in today’s polymer industry.”

The new lab is also equipped with weathering devices to simulate weathering characteristics of the finished product.

It will also be providing support to its global technical development centre capabilities in Loxstedt, Germany.
