DuPont Teijin Films to increase polyester film capacity in China

DuPont Teijin Films, a 50:50 polyester films joint venture between Teijin and DuPont, is set to increase production at DuPont Hongji Films Foshan in Guangdong Province, China.

The joint venture will build two polyester film lines, one for thick film and the other for thin film, with an investment of about $78m.

The thick film line, which is expected to begin operation in the second half of 2012, will produce photovoltaic backsheet products.

The thin film line will produce products used in dry film resists and flat panel displays, and is scheduled to come online in 2013.

The project is anticipated increase polyester film production capacity from 50,000t/year to 77,000 t/year.
