Cytec plans phosphine capacity expansion

28 October 2011

Cytec Industries is planning to invest around $125m to double its phosphine capacity, to meet the growing demand for the company's phosphine and mining chemical technologies.

The new facility will produce Cypure, used in electronics and Vaporph3os for agricultural fumigation, Aerophine, used in flotation of copper, zinc and other base and precious metals, and Cyanex solvent extraction reagents, used for cobalt, nickel and rare earth production.

The project, which is subject to final design, is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2014.

Cytec Industries chairman president and CEO Shane Fleming said the expansion will enable it to meet the growing demand in the electronics, mineral processing, solvent extraction and fumigation markets.
