Crest Chemicals, a joint venture between Brenntag and AECI, has acquired the assets of South African caustic soda importer WK Croxton.
The joint venture also purchased 64% of the outstanding shares of Protank, a storage company in the port of Durban.
The total investment of the deal amounts to €12.4m.
Crest Chemicals managing director Michiel Vijverberg said that the acquisition would strengthen Crest Chemicals' position in South Africa's chemical distribution market.
