Jacobs Engineering has received a contract from Chevron Phillips Chemical Company (CPChem) to provide front end engineering and design (FEED) services for two polyethylene facilities.
The proposed polyethylene facilities, which are part of CPChem's US Gulf Coast (USGC) petrochemicals project, are to be located in Old Ocean, Texas, near Chevron's Sweeny facility.
The plants will use CPChem's proprietary Loop Slurry Technology, with each expected to produce 500,000mt of polyethylene annually. The value of the contract has not been disclosed.
Mike Autrey, Jacobs Group vice president, said: "We look forward to expanding our long standing relationship with Chevron Phillips Chemical and are enthusiastic to contribute to the success of the U.S. Gulf Coast Petrochemical Project."
Expected to complete by 2017, the USGC Petrochemicals Project is expected to generate 400 long-term direct jobs and 10,000 engineering and construction jobs.
