Cabot opens masterbatch plant in China

US-based speciality chemical and performance materials company Cabot has commenced operations at its new $20m black masterbatch plant in Tianjin, China.

The plant, part of a rubber and speciality carbon black facility, includes the latest environmental and manufacturing technologies to ensure production of high-quality masterbatches.

Cabot performance segment vice-president and general manager Sean Keohane said that the Tianjin masterbatch plant would supply products to a broad range of industries, from key infrastructure applications to the rapidly expanding automotive sector.

''This new plant will support the growth of our customers in the Asia-Pacific region with performance materials for their demanding applications," Keohane added.
