Best Crop Science acquires Indian agrochemicals manufacturing facility from Chemtura Chemicals


Best Crop Science, an affiliate of Best Agro Group, has acquired an agrochemicals manufacturing facility located in the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Zone, India, from Chemtura Chemicals India, a subsidiary of Arysta Life Science (USA) owned by Platform Specialty Products, for an undisclosed amount.

Spread across 13.56 acres, the newly purchased manufacturing site produces high-quality insecticides, herbicides and seed enhancement products on six production lines in three production blocks.

With the purchase, Best Agro Group aims to improve its manufacturing capabilities.

The sale is a part of Platform's strategic plan for expansion in India, and global initiatives that seek to incorporate and optimise the company's production and supply chain activities following its acquisitions of Arysta Life Science, Agriphar group, and Chemtura's agricultural solutions business.

In 2014, Platform agreed to buy the agrochemicals business of Chemtura for around $1bn.

Best Agro Group chairman and managing director Vimal Kumar said: "The acquisition of this facility at Gajraula is a stepping stone to achieving our strategic vision.

"By the end of this year, we intend to enhance our technical production capacity by 5,000tpa, which will support our growing product portfolio."

The company currently serves the Indian and global markets with several crop protection products such as insecticides, herbicides, pesticides, fungicides and plant nutrients.

It also uses new technologies to address customers' applications and requirements.
