Benteler-SGL is building a new production plant for carbon components in Ort im Innkreis in the Upper Austria region, Austria.
Christian Howe, Benteler-SGL managing director, said the goal of the company is to increase the series production of fiber-composite components for the automotive industry.
"We are counting on new high-performance materials such as carbon fibers, which are then processed into high load bearing products," Howe added.
"The new ultra-modern plant in Ort im Innkreis in Austria will do justice to the growing customer demand for composite parts produced in large series."
The €36m plant is expected to start production in the middle of 2013.
Small series composite components are used in side blades, doors and visible carbon fiber parts, while composite lighter components help to reduce fuel consumption.
Sebastian Grasser, Benteler-SGL second managing director, said: "Crucial for the decision to select the site Ort im Innkreis was the economic policy of the State of Upper Austria, which promotes the establishment of technology-oriented companies and the cooperative and proactive support of the local authorities."
