Renewable chemicals and fuels company Amyris has signed an agreement with Method Products to develop renewable ingredients from biofene.
Under the deal, Amyris and Method will jointly evaluate and develop ingredients, such as surfactants and solvents derived from biofene, to deliver eco-friendly products.
Following successful development of a renewable ingredient, Amyris and Method will pursue a supply agreement for Amyris to supply it to Method.
Amyris CEO John Melo said that the collaboration with Method will help it to produce high-performance replacements for petrochemical ingredients, expand the market opportunity for biofene and provide another route to market for Amyris products.
