Renewable chemical and fuel company Amyris has has signed a definitive agreement with Michelin to jointly develop and commercialise Amyris No Compromise renewable isoprene.
The two companies will contribute funding and technical resources to develop Amyris' technology to produce isoprene from renewable feedstocks.
Isoprene production involves the use of similar Amyris's technology as similar to that used to produce farnesene.
Amyris anticipates expects to begin commercialising isoprene in 2015.
Isoprene is used in the manufacture of rubber tyres, adhesives, coatings and sealants.
