AkzoNobel buys coatings assets of Korean SSCP

7 December 2011

AkzoNobel has acquired the coatings business of Korean SSCP as part of the larger agreement signed with the company.

First unveiled on 30 June 2011, the acquisition includes the purchase of Germany-based coatings company Schramm, for which 70% of the shares are owned by SSCP.

The joint agreement is expected to help AkzoNobel strengthen its position in specialty plastic coatings.

Schramm manufactures coatings for electrical insulation, metals and plastics, as well as coil coatings for aluminum, while SSCP supplies coatings to the wider consumer electronics industry and is also involved in the mobile phone market.
