Air Products to install industrial gas liquefier at Middletown facility in US

Industrial gases company Air Products is planning to install a new liquefier at its US air separation plant in Middletown, Ohio, to enhance production capacity of the liquid nitrogen (LIN) in order to meet growing customers' demand.

The new liquefier is expected to commence its commercial operations by October next year.

Air Products Northern Region Americas Industrial Gases vice-president John Robinson said: "This planned increase in LIN production is the direct result of keeping up with existing customer demand and increased product need from one large customer in particular, who is already under a long-term contract.

"We realise the importance of reliable supply and will invest to support our customers' growth."

Air Products' Middletown facility has two large air separation units (ASU), commissioned in 1983 and 2012, which serves regions demand of large tonnage industrial gas. It also extends its support to the merchant markets by supplying liquid nitrogen and liquid oxygen.

Robinson further added: "We realise the importance of reliable supply and will invest to support our customers' growth."

The company expects that this new investment would add hundreds of tonnes per day of liquid nitrogen capacity, and strengthening its position in the market.
